Learning Objectives
The course of Technical regulation was been prepared to introduce students to the safety issues and other regulations which permeate all the activities of the wood sector. In detail, the objectives are the knowledge of the technical regulations on wood, on wood testing, on the main classification standards and on the certifications of wood products as well as the rules and laws that regulate safety in the workplace. Expertise on how to apply the technical regulations of classifications and certifications, on the approach to safety, on the contents of a DVR. Ability to assess which rules, standards and regulations are applicable to wood and wood products in commercial, industrial and professional activities. Ability to identify critical points regarding safety in a work environment.

Course program
Introduction to technical regulations. Use of wood and greenhouse gases, EUTR, product certification standards, systems for the quality and certification of panels, the product data sheet, CE marking, standards for classification based on the appearance of round and sawn wood, net cuts system, rules concerning drying, AITBT, EN 13556, terminology, conformity and methods for its evaluation, COC, rules for HT treatments, uses and habits (Camere di Commercio), standards for professional activities, fire, packaging with wood.
Evolution of safety regulations. D.Lgs 81/2008 and safety protection in the industrial behavior. Concepts of danger, risk, prevention and protection measures. Figures designated for firm security management. Drafting of the Risk Assessment Document in wood and wooden products firms. Regulatory compliance on the main specific risks in the woodworking sector (Mechanical and electrical risks; Workplace requirements; Exposure to physical agents (noise and vibrations); Collective and individual protective devices; Chemical and carcinogenic risk; Manual handling of loads and repetitive movements)
