Learning Objectives
Knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of wood adhesives and paints. Safety and environmental impact in the use of adhesives and paints. Potential of polymers and biomaterials from forest biorefineries. Developing skills in the technologies of adhesion and coating. Developing ability to assess specific products and application technologies in the adhesives and paints sector. Knowledge of the technological properties of adhesives for wood and wood-based products, and the characteristics of coating products. Ability to apply the acquired knowledge on operational choices involving the use of materials, including those used in the furniture industry for substrates and finishings. Proficiency on the choice of optimal gluing and painting processes and products to be used according to the cases encountered. Ability to evaluate specific application products and technologies in the adhesives and coatings industry.

Oral exam: questions and discussion on polymer chemistry, polymer formulations, polymer processing technologies. questions and discussion on the use of adhesives and/or paints in the wood industry. The evaluations includes, inter alia, the ability to synthesize and a proper terminology.
