Learning Objectives
Learn the principles of forest ecology and of the forest management techniques, of the characteristics of the forests, of their multifunctional role, of the principles of sustainable management and of the main causes of vulnerability, both at local and global scale.

Principles of ecology and forest ecology. Energy flow and element cycles. Autoecology and forest climate. Form, population, community. Ecological successions. Biodiversity and cultural biodiversity. Silviculture: introduction and terminology. The high forest government. The coppice government. Conversions and pruning. Other uses of the forest and trees. The phytoclimatic classification of Italy. Forestry in the different altimetric ranges. The evolution of the forests in Italy and the reforestation models. Forests on a global scale. The agroforestry systems.
